Grab your girlfriend and head on out to the Glen Ivy Hot Springs...
I'm all about relaxation and finding ways to de-stress from our busy everyday lives. So when the Glen Ivy Hot Springs invited me and Tiffani for a girls spa day, we immediately couldn't resist!
Have you ever been? This place has 19 therapeutic pools (including mineral baths and hot/cold plunge), a fresh made-to-order cafe, mud bath, moisturing grotto, massage village, eucalyptus sauna, and more! Plus, they have extended Twilight hours going on right now for summer weekends (Thursdays-Sundays) so you can grab some drinks and chill under the desert stars. Sounds so good, doesn't it?
After checking in and getting a tour, we went straight to the newly opened Secret Garden (look like the first photo above). It's like a little hideaway in the back with cute hanging lights. Then we explored the mud bath aka Club Mud for "a therapeutic red clay body treatment". The entrance looks like you're about to enter a cave and when you walk in, you'll see people playing with red clay all over their body. Apparently, you take a piece of the wet red clay and slather it on wet areas of your body that you want to be exfoliated. After the red clay dries you wash it off to reveal softer skin.
Style tip: wear a black bathing suit because the red clay may leave a stain (it stained the white areas of my suit).
Next we went to our appointments at the grotto where it takes you underground to their cave-like hideaway. Here, you get painted with their "warm aloe vera, coconut oil, eucalytus, and lavender masque" for a deeper moisturizing treatment. First you go in their heated area to open up pores and let the masque soak in then you go and wash it off. Afterwards, you go to their cooler grotto to enjoy some fresh fruit, tea, and water. Tiffani said this area reminded her of the caves in Cancun!
All this treatments may get you hungry so stop by the Ivy Kitchen for a bite to eat. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much. Sometimes at these places, you only have one choice on where to get food and they may not be the best. However, to our surprise, the food was pleasantly good! We ordered an ahi poke salad and fresh squeezed orange juice for lunch and it was surprisingly delicious.
From here, I went to get a massage at the villas. My masseuse Sara was kind and friendly. This whole place must have put me in a total relaxation mood because I feel asleep during this time (haha)! Definitely woke up feeling relaxed.
To continue our girls spa day, we went to try out the various pools here. From the mineral hot springs (warning: it does have that sulfur smell) to the bath salt pool to the hot/cold flash pools and eucalyptus sauna, we went and explored it all.
Ended our spa day with dinner at the Ivy Kitchen and hanging out at their lounge areas enjoying their new Twilight extended hours. The bucatini shrimp pasta was on point and I'm still craving for more (going to have to ask the Mister to make me something similar)!
What do you like to do more at a spa: massage or exfoliate?
Massages are my musts cause I have back aches! But it was nice and fun to try these different exfoliating and moisturizing treatments at the Glen Ivy Hot Springs. FYI appointments can tend to book up fast so call and schedule it in advanced. Bonus: they have a Twilight deal going on right now if you want to check it out. Thanks for reading and sending you hugs!
